This session is perfect on so many levels! It just screams my name, and what I aim to capture!
When I first started looking into building a photography business about 3 years ago, I obviously had to find the perfect name to suit me, and my photographic style. I wanted to shoot mainly boudoir and glamourized sessions - so I wanted it to reflect that as well. But on the other hand, I did not want to limit myself to just shooting glamour, so the name had to represent other options too.
At first, I went with Playful Photography. I then realised that I wanted to add a little something to it ... it didn't quite sound just right to me - and I finally decided when registering my business name in October 2010 - that Playful Moments was it!
I had a few people say "don't you think that name is sexually suggestive?" Ummm ... no?
Playful Moments - to me - was capturing that one perfect moment, on camera - that was natural, unscripted and spontaneous. HONEST. Imaginative. A moment in time full of fun, one that is amusing, and unique. One second in time, captured, forever!
If you look either word up in Webster's dictionary - neither is sexually suggestive ... ??
So this session with Kim and her husband, Andrew - I feel shows that Playful Moment that I wanted so much to best showcase who I am, and what my photography is all about!
The first half of the session I aimed for a vintage, sentimental theme. This was my vision for our session! (lol ... you'll see ..)
We started out with some images in the water - sweet, yet romantic style. The trick to capturing the emotions on their face? (Hint - they were real!) No faking here. I asked them to stand in the water, look my way ... and stood back a bit of a distance. (using my 70-200 2.8) I allowed a bit of privacy, yet close enough to direct if needed. The conversation and giggles came naturally from there, with little bits of direction from me now and then ...
The second half of the session - Kim gets 100% of the credit for that!
I'm assuming Andrew was just a willing participant! And, a very good natured one at that.
I knew ahead of schedule, of course that it would be ... colourful. But I had no idea how absolutely amazing it would be!
Part 2. Start ( - vintage, -romantic) (+ paint + laughter + FUN!) = this!
Think you recoginze Kim? You may, if your a Roller Derby fan!
She is a member of the Razor Girls Rollerderby Team!
And I believe Andrew would be behind a camera ... being a photog himself!
THANK YOU so much Kim & Andrew, for chosing me to uniquely capture your one year wedding anniversary!
