I first met Tina about a year ago, when she brought her daughter to my studio for a Fantasy Princess Session. It was at that time she told about the business she and her husband had created - Cassidy Lake Boarding Kennels.
So with my upcoming wedding, I immediately thought of Tina. Owning two dogs myself, Bailey, my little mutt and Bella, our Great Dane - I realised I needed someone to care for them. Our dogs are part of our family, and we take them with us wherever we go ... but when you have event, such as my upcoming wedding, and everyone in your family is going - who do you get to watch your family pets?
Again, I love my dogs like they are my kids - they are spoiled rotten and I am not trusting their care to just anyone. So I went to visit Tina, and check out her kennels. It was two part - as a Pink Owl Project, and also for my own ease of mind. I left completely satisfied and with my mind at ease. Tina has gone over and above in her design and care at her kennels! Check out the interview and images below!
Here's my two babies!

What inspired you to start your own business?
My husband and I have always been animal lovers and have always had dogs of our own and even a Vietnamese Potbellied pig, that all lived with us in our home. We starting camping and could not take our dogs with us to some campgrounds and started boarding. The kennels were always booked full, my husband jokingly said you love animals as much as the owners at all of these kennels and that I should start my own and stay home with our children. We did our research, secured some funds and made the plunge to become business owners and operators of a brand new cat and dog boarding kennel.
What type of services do you offer?
We operate just like a hotel, check out is at 11am, overnight, weekly or long term boarding for both cats and dogs of any type, size or breed. As long as your pet is current on vaccinations then we are more than happy to care for them when you cannot. We cater to all needs, seniors, puppies, and pets that are in the prime of their life. We can administer medications and speciality diets; just let us know what and when. Yes, even raw food diets.
What do you enjoy most about your business?
I love the animals, what more can I say. I enjoy the fact that at any point in my day I can sit down and give belly rubs, ear scratches and get a big sloppy kiss back in return. My clients (dogs, cats) are always happy to see me coming, never complain, no more office work place drama, just pure unconditional love. My return guests get to know me and remember me, it’s great to see one come in the door, know me and exactly where they are and are excited to be here. They become part of my little kennel family; even my kids remember the dog’s names. I enjoy the fact that I get to stay home and raise my kids and instil the values of hard work and love of animals into them as they spend time in the kennel with me helping out, filling water bowls, passing out treat playing with cats and dogs.
What sets you apart from your competition?
We are a small family run business; we offer that personal touch and try to make your pets stay with us as stress free and fun as possible. We truly try to get to know your pet while they are here and make them feel like this is a home away from home. We built our kennel with the intention of boarding pets, to make it the best environment possible to reduce stress, safe socialization and designed in the best manner for cleanliness to try and eliminate any chance for illness. Our goal is to send home a pet that has a great time playing and is very tired!! Just like any regular visit at “camp”.
What makes your business unique?
We attempt to safely socialize all animals, give them the maximum amount of interaction possible while maintaining a safe and secure environment. We also pride ourselves on the level of cleanliness we keep and the strict adherence we keep to SPCA Kennel Guidelines and licensing requirements. Really, my job and business is easy, all I have to do is just spread some love, pat the dogs, play with the cats, pass out food and treats. It’s simple and easy, and truthfully does not feel like a “job”.
